About the Credit Union in Maghera

Maghera Credit Union was established in 1999 by a group of local people. They wanted to provide a new, local, secure savings and credit facility to match the very best to be found anywhere else in the country.

It has been a sound investment for hundreds of people in the Maghera area by the provision ofa profitable place to save and an easily accessed source of credit for the important things in life.

Maghera Credit Union is run by its own annually-elected Board of Management. It continues to look out for the members’ interests and to provide a level of personal service that is not generally available, even at much larger financial institutions.

Whether it’s providing a loan to help a member cover an unexpected domestic expense, or giving financial counsel to a member whose employer has closed his doors, or simply offering a better deal on an every-day used car loan, Maghera Credit Union Ltd makes a vital difference.

Anyone who subscribes to the Common Bond of Maghera Credit Union should apply for membership to receive all the advantages of this well-run and secure financial co-operative.

“A Credit Union is not an ordinary financial concern, seeking to enrich its members at the expense of the general public.

Neither is it a Loan Company, seeking to make a profit at the expense of the unfortunates…

The Credit Union is nothing of the kind; it is the expression in the field of economics of a high social ideal.”

 Alphonse Desjardins
(Mayor of Montreal 1893)
